A lawyer representing jailed reggae star Buju Banton has revealed the Jamaican singer has been granted an appeal.
Banton was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison in 2011 on cocaine conspiracy and trafficking charges, but now there's hope for an early release after officials at an appeals court in Atlanta, Georgia agreed to hold a hearing on the case, according to his attorney Charles Ogletree.
The news comes two years after the same court upheld Banton's convictions. His former defense lawyer had argued that a government informant improperly entrapped the singer.
