Beyond All Reason have the visual appearance of a bunch of metalcore kids, but the sound somehow doesn't match. It's actually a refreshing contrast though, as their sound is what one could describe as 'proper' metal. Big riffs, big choruses, and by god, those vocals. Mr Venno has a vocal range to put most singers to shame. It's a long while since we've heard anyone use that vocal space (not counting the Darkness!)

To be honest, with your jaded rock ears on, you could easily dismiss this as a 80s metal rip off, but as these guys have obviously grown up with this as their influence, it's simply a case of them wearing their influences on their sleeves.

With a major name support slot under their belt, and the promise of Download festival awaiting them, it could be a case of beyond all expectations. Who knows?
