Veteran star Bette Midler is stepping up her campaign to beautify New York City by pledging to match every donation made to her environmental charity.
The Beaches star founded the New York Restoration Project (Nyrp) in 1995 as part of her bid to improve neglected community gardens throughout the Big Apple.
She threw a star-studded Halloween costume party in October (11) to benefit the non-profit organisation, and now she is hoping to kickstart another round of big donations by personally matching any amount handed to the Nyrp.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I am matching dollar for dollar every donation (made to) Nyrp. Good for your taxes, good for world!
"Let's clean up the planet in 2012 please!! Shake those piggy banks; every cent means a cleaner planet."
