Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is heading to Tv with a new musical drama called The Get Down.
The Australian director is bringing his talents to the small screen by creating the period drama for web streaming service Netflix.
The Get Down is set in New York City in the 1970s and centres on a group of cunning teenagers from the South Bronx.
Luhrmann, who has been working on the concept for the past 10 years, says in a statement, "I've been obsessed with the idea of how a city in its lowest moment, forgotten and half destroyed, could give birth to such creativity and originality in music, art and culture."
Luhrmann will direct three of the 13 episodes, and serve as an executive producer. The show will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
