Having marked himself out as the only original member of Guns N’ Roses not to participate in the current reunion, guitarist Izzy Stradlin has drawn speculation from Gunners fans as to why he’s refused to play along.

Finally, he’s broken his silence on social media by replying to lead singer Axl Rose’s comments last week, saying that the financial split for the tour wasn’t satisfactory for him.

Rose had told a Brazilian TV station on Tuesday, ahead of Guns N’ Roses’ string of South American tour dates, that 54 year old Stradlin just wasn’t up for it, and didn’t go into details except to imply that he was disorganised and unreliable.

“I don’t really know what to say about Izzy,” the singer said. “It’s, like, you could have a conversation and think it’s one way and the next day it’s another way. And I’m not trying to take any shots at Izzy. It’s just his thing is kind of his thing, whatever that is… We make arrangements, and then he goes and does other things. With Izzy, you never know what to expect.”

Stradlin, however, says the truth is much different – that Rose wasn’t prepared to give his bandmates an equitable share. “Bull****. They didn’t want to split the loot equally. Simple as that,” he tweeted on Thursday (September 8th).

Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour has featured four of the five members of the original line-up of the group that recorded 1987’s classic album Appetite For Destruction, including Slash and bassist Duff McKagan on the same stage together for the first time since 1993.

Original drummer Steven Adler has also played, but infrequently as he has required back surgery and has only been able to put in limited performances.

Stradlin is actually one of Rose’s more loyal lieutenants down the years in the band’s ever-revolving line-up, being the only one of the original members who has played with Guns N’ Roses with any degree of consistency since he first left the group in 1991, playing shows in 1993, 2006 and 2011.

54 year old Rose is currently touring with AC/DC as replacement lead singer after Brian Johnson was forced to pull out earlier this year due to medical problems. Their Rock Or Bust tour concludes in Philadelphia on September 20th.
