Axl Rose's twitter hacker has been criticised for a lack of creativity.

Fans were shocked when a message appeared on the Guns N' Roses frontman's account on the micro blogging site last Sunday (15.08.10), announcing that all tour dates had been cancelled.

The tweet read: "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds (sic)."

However, it was quickly revealed to be a hoax as the singer rarely posts messages on his account and the announcement was the first for almost 100 days.

Radio 1 DJ, Zane Lowe criticised the anonymous hacker for not doing something "more creative", saying hacking was "for geeks".

The band are expected to headline the Leeds and Reading Festivals later this month and bosses confirmed the gig is still going ahead.

Organisers released a statement saying: "Guns N' Roses have NOT cancelled their performances at Reading and Leeds, Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked."
