So, what was the worst movie of 2013? Over to you, Razzies.
Adam Sandler’s critical disaster Grown Ups 2 is the main nominee for this year’s Razzie awards, due to take place the night before the Oscars on March 1.
A Scene From Gore Verbinski's 'The Lone Ranger'
The awards highlight the year’s worst film, director, actor and actress in Hollywood, with past winners having included the Twilight movies and Sandler’s comedy That’s My Boy. Halle Berry famously turned to up to the ceremony to pick up the award for worst actress for Catwoman.
Bookmakers Paddy Power have installed Grown Ups 2 as the 11/10 favourite to win worst picture, though The Lone Ranger isn’t far behind at 2/1. We here at Contactmusic.com reckon Johnny Depp’s commercial flop could be worth a bet, given Sandler pretty much wins (or loses) every year anyway. Gore Verbinski’s big budget western lost Disney millions and failed to make waves with the critics. All in all, it was a complete disaster. For those who fancy a bit of an outside flutter, Will Smith’s horrible After Earth is available at 4/1.
In the acting categories, Adam Sandler is the big, big, big favourite to win worst actor for Grown Ups 2, while Ashton Kutcher is the 9/2 second favourite for jObs.
Johnny Depp in 'The Lone Ranger'. Was It Worse Than 'Grown Ups 2'?
Paddy Power are also offering odds of 4/1 that Sandler attends the 34th Razzies awards ceremony to collect an award. It’s probably not a bad idea. It helped Halle Berry’s image, plus, Sandler’s movies are always going to make money anyway, irrelevant of how bad they are.
