Actor Adam Sandler has given a cancer-stricken fan a reason to smile by inviting her to the set of his new movie Grown Ups 2.
Stage three brain cancer patient Angela Daniels found comfort in Sandler's comedies as she battled through numerous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and the 12 year old's story found its way online after FriendsAreByYourSide.com charity founder Martino Cartier made a video about the young girl's love for the funnyman.
The footage, which was posted on several social networking sites, including YouTube.com, caught the eye of Sandler's staff and a representative for the star soon reached out to Daniels and invited her to Boston, Massachusetts to watch the comedian at work on the sequel to 2010's Grown Ups.
Daniels made the journey to Massachusetts last week (begs13Aug12) and put aside her health problems for a day of fun with her idol.
The New Jersey native tells local news site NJ.com, "We went to the hotel, and then we went and saw Adam Sandler and everything. It was really cool. I hung out with him and played tennis with him and his kids."
And Daniels' mum, Jennifer, is grateful to Sandler for his generosity.
She says, "It was great. They (the cast and crew) were very welcoming. He was very nice and down to earth. She was so excited. She was shaking when she saw him walking toward her."
