Bachelorette contestant Chris Soules is heading back to the world of televised competitive dating, but this time he'll be the one making all the decisions. It was announced on Wednesday (27th August) that Chris will be the next Bachelor.

The news was announced on Good Morning America, as E! reports, and Chris was present to tell the world how excited he is to fall in love again - whilst millions of people watch, of course! Chris AKA 'Farmer Chris' previously featured on The Bachelorette season with Andi Dorfman, which aired at the beginning of this year.
Although Andi found love and is now engaged to Josh Murray, who she met whilst on The Bachelorette, it seems Chris isn't disheartened. He did acknowledge on GMA he had fallen for Andi and that was part of his reason for taking on the bachelor role. Chris stated "That's why I am doing it. I believe in the process I believe in what I went through on the previous show and that's why I am doing it I wouldn't do it if I didn't feel like..."

Chris also mentioned that he had a very special reason - beyond romance - for joining the show as it happens to be his mum's favourite!
Chris beat fellow contestant Arie Luyendyk Jr. to be the bachelor and Arie announced his disappointing news via Twitter. He indirectly announced the successful candidate and claimed not to be too cut up about not being the star of the show. Arie wrote "I'm not the Bachelor, have fun on the farm people. Thanks for the kind words everyone. It wasn't meant to be, and I'm okay with it. Happy I can move forward."
See Chris on The Bachelor on ABC in January 2015.
