Paul Walker Dead At Aged 40-Remembering His Career To Hollywood Stardom
Paul Walker's sudden and devastating death on Saturday November 30th will undoubtedly shake the movie world for quite some time. At 40 years old Paul had become one of Hollywood's recognisable faces as well as a man willing to give back, apart from starring in one of cinema's most successful film franchise 'Fast & Furious' he also used his status to help others in need by forming a humanitarian aid group called 'REACH OUT Worldwide.'
In Honour of the late Paul Walker, let's look back at how he carved his way into one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Paul, who was a native of Glenville California, first experienced acting at a very young age appearing in several TV commercials before landing the role 'Professor Bennett' in the horror/spoof 'Monster in the Closet' (1986).
He then starred in the television series 'Throb' for 23 episodes from 1986-87 a 'Jeremy Beatty', following this were several guest television appearances until he was cast in 'Appearance to kill' (1987). After it was released, he appeared in several other television shows including 'Who's The Boss?', The Young and the Restless' and 'Touched by an Angel', before making his big Hollywood debut.
Walker was cast in 1998's 'Pleasantville', a comedy-drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Tobey McGuire, which sees two teenagers from the 90's travel into a 1950's sitcom called 'Pleasentville'. Walker was cast as 'Skip Martin', a character already in the television show, and played a key role in depicting how the influence of Witherspoon and McGuire began to change the complacent town.
Following this, Walker had roles in comedy 'Varsity Blues', teen movie 'She's All That' and played the role of 'Caleb Mandrake' in 2000's crime thriller 'The Skulls'. Starring alongside Joshua Johnson, it portrays a secret elite organisation that offers wealth and power, but Johnson quickly learns there is corruption and crime within its members. Walker's character is the son of 'The Skulls' current chairman and finds himself involved in the corrupt conspiracy theories.
Paul's next film would be his break out role, he was cast as undercover policemen 'Brian O'Connor' in 2001's 'The Fast & The Furious'. Sent to infiltrate the street racing world and the gang of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), O'Connor quickly finds himself in conflict with where his loyalties lie.
The success of this movie sanctioned a sequel to be made called '2 Fast 2 Furious', now set in Miami, O'Connor reunites with his childhood friend 'Roman Pearce' (Tyrese Gibson) to take down a drug exporter.
The Californian native wouldn't appear in 2006's 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift' but would reunite with Toretto's gang for 2009's 'Fast & Furious'. The plot is a follow on from the first instalment and he teams up with Dom once more, but this time it is to take down a heroine importer.
Toretto and O'Connor team up for a third time in 2011's 'Fast Five', which sees O'Connor and his wife 'Mia Toretto' (Dom's sister) break Dom out of a prison bus and flee to Brazil, but they are being tracked by DDS agent 'Luke Hobbs' (Dwayne Johnson). O'Connor and co, take down a Brazilian drug lord by stealing his high-tech safe from a police station to try and buy their freedom wile escaping from Hobbs and his team.
The latest instalment in the franchise, 'Fast & Furious 6' was released in May 2013, and this time the crew retuned but to help Hobbs take down an international mastermind 'Shaw' (Luke Evans), who had his own mercenary army, for their help they receive full pardon's.
'Fast & Furious 7' was currently being filmed and it introduced new villain Jason Statham, 'Shaw's' brother, who was out for revenge on O'Connor and Toretto's crew.
According to Box Office Mojo, 'The Fast and the Furious' movie franchise has earned a total of $937,785,031 worldwide, making it one of the most commercially successful franchises of all time.
Apart from his incredible acting career, Paul also helped out numerous charities and relief organisations, in March 2010 he travelled to Chile in order to aid the victims of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake and also flew out his own team, 'REACHOUT Worldwide,' to help victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Paul Walker was one of Hollywood's most generation actors, using his time and own money to help others.
The acting world has lost one of its greatest ambassadors and will be sorely missed.
