Ok, so we're sorry for the Chris de Burgh reference in the headline, though red really was the colour to be seen in at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills on Sunday evening (January 13, 2013). Everyone's favourite kooky girl Zooey Deschanel and Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence probably died inside a little when spying each other on the red-carpet. Although they weren't wearing the EXACT same dress, it really wasn't far off.
Lawrence, who took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, wore a red Dior ball-gown, while her fashion rival Deschanel opted for a sleek Oscar de la Renta number (though both were the same, basically). The fashion critics had their favourites, with The Telegraph's Belinda White writing, "Let's face it; both girls do look pretty ravishing. However, the secret ingredient, which hands the best poufy red dress prize to Jennifer Lawrence, is her deportment. The 22-year-old looked like a graduate from the Angelina Jolie school of red carpet posing, working the cameras like a seasoned pro." Whereas Deschanel has maintained her awkward shyness in front of the cameras, Lawrence - the favourite to win Best Actress at the Oscars - is strutting her stuff like one of Hollywood's leading ladies. Speaking of her ensemble, Deschanel told WWD.com that she went back through her hits and misses, "I looked at pictures of all the dresses and thought about what looked best in pictures. When you see a dress in a photo the next year, you want to like it. I think about these things," she said.
New Girl Star Deschanel Looked Stunning In Her Oscar De La Renta Gown
If we here at Contactmusic.com were to offer our own opinion, we reckon Zooey Deschanel just edged this battle, but check out some of the other Golden Globes stars who opted for red, including Orlanda Bloom's Victoria's Secret model wife Miranda Kerr, who showed more skin than both Lawrence and Deschanel combined!
