Zayn Malik has a ''problem with fame''.
The One Direction star, who is now back in the United Kingdom after being signed off the band's world tour in Asia with stress, has reportedly been struggling with the attention him and his bandmates - Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - receive from their legions of fans.
A source shared: ''He is just a kid. He wants to make music, but the spotlight that comes with it is hard. Fame is kind of catching up with all if them. It's been a gruelling and intense few years and it's having a snowball effect now.
''Zayn would be happy with a low-key life. He has a problem with the fame - he doesn't handle the attention very well, and every so often he has a little wobble.''
His ''wobble'' comes just days after there was widespread speculation about his relationship with Perrie Edwards when photographs surfaced of the 22-year-old singer supposedly holding hands with a female fan as he partied in Phuket, Thailand.
But an insider has insisted the images are not what they seem and the 'Night Changes' hitmaker is ''completely in love'' with the Little Mix star.
They added to E! News: ''He is completely in love with Perrie.
''What happened in Thailand was completely blown out of proportion.''
Zayn is expected to rejoin the band later this month as they continue their world tour in Africa.
