Zayn Malik has reportedly been house-hunting in Los Angeles.

The former One Direction star -- who split from fiancee Perrie Edwards last month -- is on the lookout for a new home in sunny California as he prepares to launch a solo music career.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: Zayn is relishing the opportunity to make a new start.

''He is single and solo, his career is in America and he absolutely loves Los Angeles, so he wants to stay.

''He is currently looking for the perfect home. He is so excited about it.''

Earlier this week Zayn made no secret of his love for LA on Twitter.

He shared: ''Been an amazing day today ! Love LA love the weather, love all of you life is good (sic)''

The big move comes amid a slew of changes in the young singer's life.

In March he quit One Direction while on a world tour with the group.

And just last month he apparently called off his romance with Perrie Edwards, to whom he was engaged for two years, via text message.
