Comedian Will Ferrell and his producing partner Adam McKay are developing a new animated feature film version of beloved cartoon The Flintstones.
The duo will serve as executive producers on the project, while a staffer at Ferrell and MCKay's Gary Sanchez Productions company will pen the script.
The caveman family was first adapted for film in 1994 with a live-action movie starring John Goodman and Rick Moranis as Fred Flintstone and his sidekick, Barney Rubble. It was followed by 2000's The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.
Ferrell and MCKay have previously worked together on The Other Guys and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
