Whoopi Goldberg is angling for a role in hit new Tv show Empire.

The Ghost star is hoping to juggle acting work around her slot on U.S. Tv chat show The View, and Lee Daniels' new hip-hop industry drama starring Terrence Howard is top of her list.

She tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "I'm trying to get on Empire... I've always been able to come and go as I choose (on The View). It's been in the contract to allow me to go and make movies if I wanted to or do something if I wanted to."
