From the pilot’s plot description, uncovered by TVLine, there’s no indication of a ghostly presence, it simply states the show will begin with a YouTube video going viral, which will spell danger for teenager Audrey and serve as the ‘catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to [her] town’s troubled past.’ The four new characters seem to fit in well with what fans would want from a new Scream. Whilst emphasis is being given to the fact this is not a follow on from the movie, there are a few points that could connect it to the franchise. Even though its not been confirmed that the show will have a Woodsbro setting, the ‘town’s troubled past’ plot point suggests we may be making a return trip. Filming is expected to begin later this year, with a 2015 airing being look at. So far really things don’t look to bad for the franchise, who might just prove there’s still life left in it, if given a whole new story. Whilst the original movies were praised as much for their humour and self awareness as they were for their horror stylings, lets hope that’s one part if the Scream franchise the TV show choses to keep. Who knows, we might even hear ghostface ask, ‘what's your favourite scary TV show?’, here’s betting that the answer might just be Teen Wolf.
