Vince Vaughn is glad he waited until he was older to have children.
The 43-year-old actor, who has a two-year-old daughter, Locklyn Kyla, and four-month-old son, Vernon Lindsay, with his wife Kyla Weber, is grateful to have time to focus on his family after years of working on movies back-to-back.
The 'Internship' star, who previously dated Jennifer Aniston, told 'The Queen Latifah Show' on Tuesday (26.11.13): ''For me, I'm really tight with my family. There is something about when we were younger, we were always told you have to focus on your career and to push relationships to the side. I woke up and said, 'Gosh, I want to have a family,' and I got very lucky and I met someone terrific.''
He added: ''I think the nice thing about waiting is that it puts you in a place where you're really grateful for it and you're excited for it so it's been a lot of fun and I'm really enjoying it.''
Asked what kind of dad he is, Vince said: ''Well my daughter at first she was so... I could be suffocating because I love her so much, so it's like you realise it's kind of like a cat, you got to let them come to you, you can't be like the over-eager dad that keeps on top of them. But as they get older, it gets more fun. There is more you can do.
''It's a lot of fun. We laugh a lot, she's very sweet. It's like every day, they are doing something new.''
Vince also credits his children for helping him to deliver a better performance in his new movie 'Delivery Man.'
He said: ''The movie's kind of about, as a parent, the hopes and fears you have for your kids. I think being a new dad definitely opened me up and made it very easy for me to tap into those feelings.''
