Tom Cruise's New Action Sequel Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Has Blasted To The Top Of The North American Box Office With A Strong $56 Million (£35 Million) Haul In Its Opening Weekend.
The debut figures are the second-best in the movie franchise, behind Mission: Impossible II, which earned $57 million (£35.6 million) upon its release in 2000.
Rogue Nation, the fifth instalment in the spy series, also proved to be a big hit outside of the U.S. and Canada, raking in $65 million (£40.6 million) to take its global debut to $121 million (£75.6 million).
Meanwhile, Ed Helms and Christina Applegate's new comedy movie Vacation was a distant second in the North American box office, scoring $14.9 million (£9.3 million).
