Canadian singer/songwriter The Weeknd has pulled out of his support slot on Rihanna’s upcoming world tour, Anti. The Can’t Feel My Face hitmaker has blamed "unforeseen changes with upcoming projects" for his withdrawal.

The double Grammy award winner, who scooped Best R&B Performance for Can’t Feel My Face and Best Urban Contemporary Album for his second album, Beauty Behind the Madness, had been due to open for RiRi at 32 of her European tour dates during the summer.

The shows included five huge outdoors events taking place in the UK and Ireland in June.

However, the R&B artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, will no longer be fronting the superstar songstress and promoters Live Nation have not confirmed who, if anyone, will take his place.

Rhianna is currently on the North American leg of Anti after her album of the same name was released earlier this year following a four-year musical absence.

The star was taken aback at one of her recent shows when singing Kayne West and Paul McCartney collaboration FourFiveSeconds.

The Barbadian born star crouched down to give a fan the chance to help the song along and was amazed when he sang with a pitch-perfect voice back at her.
