Taylor Swift's forthcoming album is rumoured to be about her ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.

The country singer has described her forthcoming record as an "absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak", which has led to speculation it could be about her short-lived relationship with the Hollywood actor in late 2010.

She told America's Vogue magazine: "There's just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak and that will turn out to be what the next album is about.

"The only way that I can feel better about myself - pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone - is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity."

But the 22-year-old blonde beauty - who has also dated Joe Jonas in the past - is not looking to rush into a new relationship because she is quite content being single.

She added: "I really have this great life right now, and I'm not sad and I'm not crying this Christmas, so I am really stoked about that."
