Taylor Swift has splashed big money on a new house in Rhode Island, because mansions are awesome.
Taylor Swift got to experience what it might be like to be a drug kingpin by making a whooping $17 million cash transaction in Rhode Island this weekend, only rather than forking out for illegal substances the songbird was participating in the much law-friendlier activity of buying a new house.
Taylor Swift has splashed out on a new home.
According to TMZ, the country/pop star had been eyeing up the property for a few weeks, having been spotted by paparazzi while taking a guided tour of the Rhode Island mansion on April 15. Now sources close to the singer have confirmed with the gossip site that Taylor has indeed delivered on her intent to buy a new place and has wired the huge amount of cash over to the estate agents at the end of last week (April 28). Movers were spotted outside the house early on Saturday morning, TMZ also reports, with the singer believed to have finished her move into the new crib already.
Again, according to sources close with TMZ, the real estate company who had the listings on the house apparently decided to drop the asking price on the 5.23 acre property from around $20 million, to a much more manageable $17.75 mil. instead. The new home has been purchased by Taylor to replace her former summer home at Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, which she sold after her split from Conor Kennedy last year. After all, you can never have too many mansions can you?
