Taylor Swift loves Scottish people.

The 25-year-old star is currently dating Dumfries-born DJ Calvin Harris and during a gig at Glasgow's SSE Hydro arena, the 'Shake It Off' hitmaker revealed the duo have more in common than most people realise.

She said: ''Look at all of these amazing Scottish people in this room right now.

''I happen to love Scottish people, personally.''

Indeed, Taylor admitted to having Scottish roots - something she only learned about following a recent email exchange with her father.

She shared: ''My dad sent me an email.

''It said our whole family is from Scotland, so I evidently am one of you.''

During the gig, Taylor admitted she learnt much of what she knows about love from watching romantic films.

She explained: ''I did a lot of thinking about love, what we want from love and when we start learning.

''But I remember, when I was growing up, I learned a lot about love from the movies we watched.

''In those movies you had two very different main characters but somehow you just know they're perfect for each other.''

Meanwhile, Taylor also paid a glowing tribute to her close friends Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, saying they're both ''amazing people''.

She told The Sun newspaper: ''It's been amazing to watch Ed and Sam put out their first singles and have things hit so quickly. I love what they do.

''They're absolutely authentic and, to top it off, they're amazing people, fun to hang out with. That's the great part about right now. I go to awards shows and see my friends.''
