Taylor Swift was ''horrified'' to see John Mayer at the same restaurant as her on Wednesday (20.08.14).

The 24-year-old singer was stunned when she saw her former boyfriend, whom she dated five years ago, dining at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, and she was even reportedly considering leaving the eatery to avoid any uncomfortable conversations.

A source told the HollywoodLife.com: ''When Taylor saw John it was as if she saw a ghost. She was horrified and, for a moment, contemplated leaving.

''Cooler heads prevailed and she acted as if she didn't see him but she totally knew he was there and was uncomfortable.''

The ex-lovers, who have slammed each other in their song writing in the past, avoided eye-contact for the whole night and didn't exchange a single word.

They then left the hotspot separately before jumping into their hired cars along with their individual friends.

The pair split in 2010 following a brief romance, but it was thought Taylor didn't take the break-up very well as it was believed she referenced the 36-year-old hunk in her track 'Dear John' four years ago.

However, she has since been romantically linked to One Direction's Harry Styles and Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal, while John was in a relationship with Katy Perry until earlier this year.
