Taylor Swift's ''worst fear'' is losing her mother.

The 'Shake it Off' star - whose mom Andrea is currently battling cancer - sent her sympathy and a ''huge hug'' to a fan who shared her heartbreak that she couldn't celebrate Mother's Day with her parent yesterday (10.05.15) because she had died of cancer in January.

Responding to the fan, Kaileen, on her Tumblr page, Taylor wrote: ''Kaileen - I love you so much and can't imagine what you must be feeling today. You've lived through my worst fear. I'm so sorry you can't spend today with her.

''It's not fair, and there's no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today.

''I admire and respect your ability to put forth such a sunny, sweet disposition when you've been through something so dark and tragic so recently. I never would've guessed by your attitude or your posts. I never would've known if you hadn't told me. Sending you a huge hug today. Gonna go get iced coffee and cheers to you. :) (sic)''

Taylor's post came just a month after the 25-year-old star told her fans her mother had been diagnosed with cancer.

She said at the time: ''She's got an important battle to fight. Thank you for caring about my family so much that she would want me to share this information with you.''
