The multi-platinum-selling singer will be offering the wannabe pop stars advice about presentation and technique on three episodes.
NBC has confirmed that Taylor Swift will be a mentor on the current season of ‘The Voice’. Her participation in the show had been rumoured for some time, but the network announced today that she’ll be a “key adviser” during the Knockout Rounds.
Taylor Swift will be a 'key adviser' on three episodes of 'The Voice' later this month
TODAY’s presenter Carson Daly made the announcement on Friday, saying "Seven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift is going to act as the sole mentor for all of our teams during the Knockout Round. We're happy to have her.”
The 24 year old will be joining fellow newcomers Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani, as well as ‘The Voice’ veterans Blake Shelton and Maroon 5’s lead singer Adam Levine. Acting as coaches in the background will be an impressive arsenal of stars including Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, which ensures that the new season is certainly jam-packed with household names.
On three shows the hugely successful singer, who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, will advise her protégés on vocal techniques, stage presence and preferential song selection. There’s no word as yet as to whether Swift will make any more appearances beyond the November 3rd show.
The decision ought to provide some juicy primetime exposure for the star at just the right time: when the Knockout Rounds begin at the end of October, it neatly coincides with the release of Swift’s new album 1989, scheduled for October 27th. It has already spawned the divisive lead single ‘Shake It Off’, as well as revealing an ongoing rivalry with an anonymous female pop star on a track called ‘Bad Blood’.
