The DJ makes a few obvious digs at his ex in his latest release.
Calvin Harris said his new single 'My Way' wasn't about his ex Taylor Swift, but after dropping the video for it, fans are certain that he's subtly throwing serious shade at the singer. The video is based in virtual reality and sees his girlfriend as a flickering robotic image.
Is Calvin Harris throwing shade at Taylor Swift?
The DJ dropped the video yesterday (October 28th 2016) with actress Emanuela Postacchini ('Third Person') playing his holographic robot girlfriend. That statement is scornful in itself if it really is about Taylor. But there's a few other snippets in the visual that are directly reminiscent of Taylor and her music videos.
It sees Calvin plugged into a highly glitchy virtual reality headset which shows him a life with an unemotional robot lover in a small shack in the middle of nowhere. She's constantly flickering in and out of focus and he seems to lament not being able to touch her or, indeed, interact with her.
Evidence that it's about Taylor Swift lies in the fact that Postacchini's white and red dotted dress is very much the 'Blank Space' singer's style, and various clips in the video match up to her own videos. For example, a woman can be seen standing on a horse like in the 'Blank Space' video, Postacchini flips to a horizontal position in a futuristic white outfit like in the 'Bad Blood' video and she also wears an apocalyptic black ensemble just like Taylor in 'Bad Blood'.
'I thought of the concept years ago when I left [grocery store] Safeway', he insisted in an interview on Z100. 'I was trying to move to London and I was working in the store in Scotland. I was trying to go down and make music for a living, but I couldn't because I didn't have any money.'
'It could be a job that you hate, and then you quit the job then life is awesome', he later said during 'On Air With Ryan Seacrest'. 'It could be about a relationship and you get rid of the girl or the guy then life is awesome.'

Whether he denies the song is about Taylor or not, the lyrics are still very much relationship-based - and largely unambiguous: 'Why wait/ To say/ At least I did it my way/ Lie awake/ Two faced/ But in my heart I understand/ I made/ My move/ And it was all about you/ Now I feel/ So far removed/ You were the one thing in my way.'
'My Way' is currently at number 10 in the UK charts, having previously reached a peak position of number 4. It follows his other singles this year: 'Hype' with Dizzee Rascal and 'This Is What You Came For' featuring Rihanna (and co-written by Taylor under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg).
