Susan Sarandon's ex-boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin wants to win her back.

The 68-year-old actress recently split from 37-year-old entrepreneur after six years of dating, but he says she will always be the love of his life.

He said: ''She's someone I love more than anyone I've ever been with, and that won't change.

''We had a six-year relationship that's gone through ups and downs. We're taking some time apart to really refresh.''

Jonathan admits the Oscar winner's high profile and their age gap were issues during their relationship.

He told the New York Post's Page Six: ''I felt like I never lived up to that. I wasn't a backup dancer for Madonna, so I felt like no one [knew] anything about me . . . she's not dating some young male model that could look pretty in tabloid pictures.

''I loved her dating me, and I never felt embarrassed for her dating me.''

But he hinted the 'Lovely Bones' star's family and friends didn't' approve of their romance.

He said: ''What I felt was, the general public and maybe her family or friends maybe felt that I wasn't good enough for her.''

The pair started dating following the 'Tammy' star's split from Tim Robbins in 2009, with whom she has sons Jack, 26, and Miles, 23.

The actress also has daughter Eva Amurri, 30, with ex-partner Franco Amurri.

Sources previously claimed the duo decided to take a break after they struggled to cope with having their lives filmed for Morgan Spurlock's AOL reality series 'Connected', which follows six people and their partners over six months.
