Susan Boyle is to star in a 'Glee' Christmas special.

The Scottish singer has been confirmed to appear in a one-off special of the musical drama show, while some of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney's hit singles are also set to make an appearance.

According to show creator Ryan Murphy, Paul wrote to him personally to ask him to use his songs in the programme.

He told the BBC: "I received some fantastic mixed tapes from Paul McCartney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was being punked!

"It came out of the blue in a package, handwritten, and it had two CDs and it said 'Hi Ryan, I hope you will consider some of these songs for 'Glee'.

"I had heard that he is a fan of the show. I was gob-smacked... so of course we are going to do something with him."

Ryan also confirmed rumours that the 'Britain's Got Talent' contestant - who shot to fame around the world after clips of her audition became online sensations - will appear.

It is believed she will play a dinner lady in the school, although Ryan wouldn't confirm exact details about her part.
