Sting's son JOE SUMNER's hopes of representing Austria at the annual Eurovision Song Contest were dashed on Friday (25Feb11) after citizens chose a native pop star to perform for their country.
The 34 year old Brit took time out from his band Fiction Plane to join Austrian act Klimmstein to compete in the final stages of the country's selection process, where voters choose an act to represent the nation at the music competition.
Klimmstein competed against fellow hopefuls Nadine Beiler and Trackshittaz, but only managed to come third when the viewers' votes came in.
Beiler, with her English balled The Secret is Love, came out the champion. She will sing for Austria at the event in Dusseldorf, Germany, in May (11).
