Oscar-winning director plans new movie based in disputed region of Kashmir
Hot on the heels of the success of his Abraham Lincoln biopic, Steven Spielberg has announced that his newest movie project will be set on the border of the disputed region of Kashmir. It’s unclear what the title, or indeed the plot, of the movie will be, but Spielberg told The Times of India that movie is set to be produced by his own DreamWorks studio and the Mumbai based Reliance Entertainment.
He told the paper “We have finalised a script... Part of it will take place on the India-Pakistan border in Kashmir. But we're still trying to figure out the castings, locations and who's going to direct it,” which obviously suggests that it’s not a project that the 66 year-old is planning on directing himself.
It is understood that Spielberg already has plans to adapt a Stanley Kubrick project, about Napoleon, into a TV mini-series. The series will be based on a screenplay that Kubrick had worked on for many years, though the film-maker scrapped it some time in the 1970s.

Whilst he was in India, Spielberg met with the Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and other Indian movie personalities, at a party hosted by Anil Ambani, a businessman, on Monday night. Bachchan was clearly enthused by his meeting with the Hollywood director and tweeted “A scintillating evening with Mr Steven Spielberg .. films relations scripts trends future .. and more!!”
