Lucasfilm Ltd has announced a somewhat unlikely partnership with Rovio Entertainment, aka, the company behind Angry Birds. That's right Star Wars fans, your favourite characters. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader.and the little metal one.are to be immortalized in flying bird form.

Angry Birds, Star Wars edition will launch worldwide on November 8, 2012, combining all the fun of the original game with the more recent Angry Birds Space edition. "This is the best Angry Birds game we've ever done. It's the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away," said Peter Vesterbacka of Rovio. "As a big Star Wars fan myself, I'm really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one." Never one to miss a merchandising opportunity, Rovio plans to unveil a massive retail launch for the new game, with Halloween costumes, action figures and collectible toys all set to hit shelves. "Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun," said Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination."

So there you have it; a new game, plus the chance to ditch that old Darth Vader Halloween costume as well as that dated Angry Birds costume, and trade them both in for a shiny new Darth Vader Angry Birds costume!
