Sofia Vergara has spent $45,000 renovating her backyard for Joe Manganiello.

The 'Modern Family' actress, who got engaged to the 'Magic Mike' star in December, reportedly splashed out the huge sum on new furniture and plants to turn her garden into a tropical paradise.

An insider said: ''He absolutely loves it. He spends 99 per cent of his time outside, so it's perfect.''

The 42-year-old actress hired landscape gardeners to surprise the 38-year-old actor with lavish outdoor area as a move-in gift.

The source told US Star magazine: ''She wanted Joe to feel more at home. This is his home now too - and she wanted to do something to symbolise that.

''Sofia bough chairs, couches, tables and lounges. She said she has a ton of family and friends, so she bought most of the store.''

The Colombian actress, who got engaged to Joe after just six months of dating, recently admitted they are planning to have a family together.

The brunette beauty, who has a 22-year-old son Manolo from a previous marriage, said: ''He's younger than me and he's never had kids, so of course if we can do it, why not?

''It needs a lot of planning, but we have to leave it to God to see if it happens.''
