Controversial Clarkson was fired by BBC bosses last month (Mar15) for aiming a blow at the crew member in a bust-up over catering arrangements during a location shoot.

Following his departure from the programme, cops in North Yorkshire, England launched a probe into the incident but they announced on Tuesday (07Apr15) that the case has now been dropped.

A police spokesman says, "We have properly established that there is no need for further police action."

More than one million angry fans signed a petition demanding BBC bosses reinstate Clarkson as Top Gear host, and he has also received support from stars including rapper Snoop Dogg and actor Russell Crowe.
