Slipknot and Metallica have been honoured with the top prizes at the 2009 Kerrang! Awards in London.
Slipknot walked away with Best Live Act and Best International Band at Monday's (03Aug09) prizegiving, which frontman Corey Taylor co-hosted.
He branded the double award win "really gratifying" and added: "I can't think of many bands that have worked harder, and it really feels good that people are starting to turn around and really see what we're about and appreciating it for what it is."
Metallica won Best Album for Death Magnetic, while The Prodigy walked away with the Best Single honour for Omen.
Bullet For My Valentine scooped Best British Band for the second year in a row and San Francisco, California band MAChine Head were handed the night's Inspiration Award for their contribution to heavy metal.
Reunited grunge rockers Alice In Chains and reformed Limp Bizkit were presented with the night's Icon Award and Hall of Fame prize, respectively.
