Magician Richard Jones has been crowned this year’s winner of ‘Britain's Got Talent’ after a close final. The 25-year-old army bandsman impressed viewers and the judges on Saturday night (May 28th) with a military-themed trick featuring an army veteran.

"I can't believe it. Thank you so much to everyone who voted. I want to thank my family, I want to thank Fergus, I want to thank the Magic Circle and the whole community,” Jones said after winning. "They've been absolutely fantastic and everyone's been so supportive. Thank you to everyone here and everyone at home watching. It means the world to me.”

Singer Wayne Woodward came in second place and said: “Thank you it has been an amazing experience, I have met some amazing people. I hope to see a lot more of you.” In third place was dance act Boogie Storm.

Jones is the first magic act to win in the show’s 10 year history. He receives a £250,000 prize and the opportunity to appear at the Royal Variety Performance later this year. On twitter Jones was congratulated by the British Army as well as the The Band of the Household Cavalry who were pictured celebrating his win.

Speaking on ‘Britain’s More Talent’ after the show, judge Amanda Holden said: "I'm absolutely delighted because when magic first started on Britain's Got Talent it was rubbish and after 10 years he has done such a great job.”

Simon Cowell added: "I think people rooted for him as a person," he said. "His presentation, his whole performance was immaculate - it was very patriotic and heart-warming and he deserved to win."
