The 30-year-old star left her role as co-host of the E! show just days after host Giuliana Rancic apologised for making racist comments about Zendaya Coleman.
The 62-year-old television personality said: ''I stand by her. You know, she had an amazing five years on the show, and she learned so much from Joan [Rivers].
''It was just her time. She's got to grow up, move into the big world.''
And whilst speculation soars about who will replace the purple-haired star - with Amber Rose, Khloe Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen reportedly being considered, - Sharon is convinced a new host for the show will be easily found.
She added to Extra: ''There are lots of great names, lots of great people over at E! that they have under contract that they'll slip into that chair. It'll be done and dusted like that.''
Meanwhile, Kelly recently spoke out about her decision to leave the show.
She said: ''You know what, it was the five best working years of my life. I am so grateful for the experience - working with Joan Rivers for five years was incredible.
''I learned so much and I'm excited for my future. I want to try new things.''
