Shailene Woodley prefers making indie movies.
The 22-year-old actress might have last graced our screens in big-budget blockbuster 'Divergent', but she wants to relinquish the fast-paced experience of working on art house films like 'The Descendants' because she feels the directors can express themselves with total freedom.
She revealed in the new issue of V magazine: ''I love indie films, because there's no slacking off. The budget is so tight and the shooting schedule is so precise, there's no room for error.
''Everyone is there for the love of the craft. [Indie films] are able to explore beyond the boundaries of what studios will allow.
''They take risks and diverge from mediocrity - by being sexual, mysterious, dangerous, or crude. I love them because the freedom is unbridled.''
In spite of her newfound mainstream fame, Woodley is still an indie girl at heart and would choose the Sundance Film Festival over glamorous Hollywood events every time.
She gushed: ''I find Sundance to be nothing but pure magic every year. I've been going for a while, whether I'm with a film or not. The weather, the people, the dance moves, the films, the cozy attire ... it's swoon-worthy.''
The eco-friendly star is next due to appear in tearjerker romance 'The Fault in Our Stars' opposite Ansel Elgort, and she intends to take things slow when it comes to choosing her next script.
She added: ''I'm going to lie low and explore some of life's other artistic facets.''
