The 22 year-old actress revealed to Jimmy Kimmel, "everything that I own and use is in a carry-on suitcase."
Even though Shailene Woodley is one of Hollywood's most promising actress', she still doesn't own a home.
But that is not the most surprising thing, the 22 year-old star is homeless by choice.
Woodley explained her reasons for giving up a perfectly good house during her appearance on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' this past Thursday (May 15th).
The 'Divergent' actress firstly revealed how she can fit "almost everything" that she owns into one suitcase.
"I have some kitchen items that my grandma is using," she said. "But other than that, yeah, everything that I own and use is in a carry-on suitcase. I figure if I only own a few things and it gets lost, then I would get nothing."
"That takes an unbelievable amount of self-control," Kimmel said, looking very bemused.
But for Woodley, packing light and not owning her own place isn't hard to deal with.
"I was only home for 15 days last year and I got home and I was like, 'I don't want to be alone. I want to be with my friends and family,'" she continued. "So, I got rid of everything just so I could have one suitcase that would be easy to transport between houses and just kind of couch surf for a few months. But it's so refreshing and it takes so much stress away when you're like, 'Ugh, I only have one pair of jeans to wash.' It's so nice."
The rising star revealed she "used" to own a home in Los Angeles but decided to give it to her grandmother. And as for now Woodley lives "literally on friends' couches."
Adding, "I was only here in L.A. for two months, so when you're home you kind of want to soak up faces and places...And then I leave again."

Unlike most females her age, Woodley isn't particularly concerned with having the latest mobile devices. The actress owns a laptop, but not an iPad, and she only recently got a cell phone.

"I do have a phone right now because we've been doing so much press and they were like, 'Shai, we need to be able to get ahold of you, so here's a temporary phone and we've taped the number to the back of it so you won't forget it,'" she revealed, laughing. "It's kind of hilarious."
