SPOILER ALERT: A key character in 'Family Guy', who has featured in every season, is killed-off in a tragic accident!
Seth Macfarlane's 'Family Guy' has constantly been a hilarious showing of an animated family's antics for 11 seasons now.
However, fans of the comedy series did not laugh in season 12's latest episode, titled 'Life Of Brian'.
Devastating scenes occurred, the loveable canine companion, 'Brian Griffin', was tragically hit and killed by a car.
'Brian' was rushed to the vets but the extent of his injuries were too much to bare, before his passing the talking dog turned to all members of the Griffin family and said "you've given me a wonderful life, I love you all."
It was arguably the best tear-jerker in animation history!
The episode aired on Sunday (Nov 24th) and by mid-Monday (Nov 25th) a petition was already uploaded to Change.org, which has nearly 12,000 signatures.
'Brian' will be sorely missed. Known for his ability to speak, cultured background, fine tastes and getting drunk, as well as dating lots of women, proved to be a hilarious and heavy feature of the program.
However, with all his vices, the family pet still managed to maintain a strong friendship with his toddler sibling, 'Stewie'.
The shocking death could not have come at a worse time as 'Stewie' destroyed his infamous time-machine earlier in the episode, which took him and 'Brian' on several memorable adventures.
'Stewie' and 'Brian's' hilarious reltionship is now over
A month later the Griffin's are still morning but a 'Sopranos'-inspired dog is welcomed into the family called 'Vinny', voiced by Tony Sirico.
Writer Steve Callaghan told E!News there decision to kill 'Brian' "got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire..and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters."
He also explained why they introduced another pub in the TV series, "it felt like a void needed to be filled both comically, and also for the interpersonal relationships between all the characters. We felt that we needed to fill that role."
RIP 'Brian Griffin', he was 11 years-old.
Can the new pub 'Vinny' create a strong bond with the grieving 'Stewie'
