Selena Gomez's calls her new album ''baby dubstep'' as it is influenced by Skillrex, but not as heavy as the US producers sound.
Selena Gomez's new album is ''baby dubstep''.
The 'Come and Get It' hitmaker is a huge fan of producer Skillrex - who scored her most recent movie, 'Spring Breakers' - and was influenced by his music when she recorded her debut solo album, 'Stars Dance'.
She explained: ''Skrillex scored the [soundtrack] and he was incredible - he did such a good job. I call my record, like, a baby dubstep, because Skrillex is obviously the best.''
'Stars Dance' marks Selena's first solo effort following three studio albums with her former band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, and she wanted to include songs she could enjoy performing in decades to come.
She said: ''I wanted to make sure for every single song that it was going to be something I wanted to perform for the rest of my life, which was fun for me. With this one I recorded about 25 songs total and picked 11 so it was much more a journey.''
The 20-year-old beauty also says she was heavily influenced by '90s pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera - who were known for their elaborate choreography in stage performances - and hopes she will be able to perform just as well on her forthcoming 'Stars Dance' tour.
She told French radio station NRJ: ''I grew up with Britney, *NSync, Christina ... and [dance] was part of performing, being an artist [meant] entertaining people. So choreographing an entire song, start to finish, was something I've always loved doing but never been able to do. With this tour I'll have a lot more dancing, so I think it brings my songs to a whole other level.''
Sheffield's very own all girl group Pretty Fierce are still on a high after the recent release of their debut single - 'Ready For Me'.
Three nights before the end of his current tour Will Varley returned to his home town of Deal to delight a sold out crowd in The Astor Theatre.
