Gomez’s stepfather Brian Teefey had served as Grimmie’s manager.
Singer Selena Gomez paid an emotional tribute to her friend Christina Grimmie on Saturday night (June 11) during her concert in Miami. Christina, who appeared on ‘The Voice’ in 2014, was shot and killed in Orlando on Friday evening (June 10), while she signed autographs for fans at a meet and greet after a show.

"One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her," Selena told the crowd while wiping away tears, E! News reports. "I think it's not about a religion and it's not about good deeds. I think she just had faith and I don't really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this song to her.”
The singer then delivered an emotional performance of her song ‘Transfiguration’ on the piano. Earlier on Saturday Selena had posted a throwback photo of herself laughing with Christina, captioned, ‘My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina’.

Selena also shared a message on Twitter from her stepfather Brian Teefey, who served as Christina's manager. "Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling. I learned this business through the eyes of a father and Christina was like a second daughter to me.
“All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business. I never could have imagined this horrific event being one of the pitfalls needing to be avoided.” Teffey also linked to a GoFundMe page set up in Christina’s memory.
