The 21 year-old songstress has hired Bradford Cobb as her new manager after she cut professional ties with her parents earlier this month.
Selena Gomez wants to experience the success of Katy Perry.
The 21 year-old pop star has hired the fellow singer's manager, Bradford Cobb, to replace her parents after she fired them at the beginning of the month, Us Weekly report.
Gomez's mother Mandy Teefy, and stepdad Brian Teefey, have been her co-managers since the early days at Disney Channel, but she wanted to cut professional ties with them due to "getting older and being more independent."
At the time of their firing, reports speculated that the 'Come & Get It' singer was eying Scouter Braun, the manager of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, as well as Cobb for the role.
Cobb, who also reps for 'The Voice' coach Adam Levine, was listed as one of Billboard's 40 executives under 40 in July 2013 and has more than ten years of experience working in the music industry.
"For me, it's really about the team," Cobb told Billboard of his success. "Everyone [at Direct Management Group] works on all of the clients, and we build the right team for each artist."
So it seems the songstress has made a wise career move!
Gomez first began to contemplate hiring a new manager after deciding "it's better to focus on being a family than talking about business all the time," a source told E!News at the time of her parents firing.

"Listen, it makes sense because someone doesn't want their parents managing them for their whole career," the insider added. "It wasn't about her parents doing something wrong or bad feelings, it was more about Selena getting older and being more independent."
What will this new career change hold for Gomez's future? Will she now attempt to lose her teen star image?
