Sean Penn will be honoured with the Joel Siegel Award for his contributions to humanitarian efforts in Haiti at the Critics' Choice Awards on Thursday (12Jan12).
George Clooney will present the prize to the Oscar winner at the 17th annual Broadcast Film Critics Association gala.
Penn becomes the fifth person to receive the award.
Also honoured on Thursday will be Martin Scorsese, who is to receive the Music & Film Award.
