Under the Skin depicts an unsettling look into our world through an alien's eyes.
Scarlett Johansson flaunts her seductive body in her new movie 'Under the Skin' but this only proves too well that looks are deceiving as the once named 'sexiest women alive' is almost unrecognisable in this disconcerting tale. Yes, you do see her semi naked, but in a never before seen manner.
Our world is seen through the eyes of an alien played by Scarlett Johansson
Under The Skin's director, Jonathan Glazer, returns to the frontier of film making, waiting nine years after the release of the obscure drama Birth in 2004. The film premiered at the 70th Venice International Film Festival to very mixed reviews.
The unsettling feature is adapted from Michael Faber's novel of the same name, Scarlett Johansson stars as an alien in human form who prowls the highlands of Scotland disposing the locals with an old and still very powerful method, sex.
Since its premiere it has received rave as well as dismal reviews, it seems to be a unique tale with critics undecided as it may only appeal to an audience that wants to be unnerved and startled. So what are the critics saying? Xan Brooks of The Guardian considers "Under the Skin is far and away the best picture in the competition so far: a story that plays as a kind of malarial dream, bathed in cold sweat and seeing hallucinations in every corner".

The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg was less than impressed with Glazer's return stating "Under the Skin is a lot like another visually beautiful but plotless and pretentious film from a director who is capable of so much more".
A film with such divided responses must be tested by the eyes of the general public, seeing the earth through an alien's perspective is always intriguing but the rarity of the plot means it needs to be executed to perfection.
Under The Skin is set to hit the theatres on August 29th 2013.
