'Lucy' has been a big hit and Universal want a sequel.
Director Luc Besson has generated modest acclaim for his action-thriller Lucy, though the Frenchman says it is unlikely there will be a sequel. Fans of the movie have been clamouring for news of a second movie - as have representatives of Universal Pictures - but Besson told reporters in Taiwan: "I don't see how we can do one."
Scarlett Johansson in 'Lucy'
"It's not made for that," he said in an interview with the local press. "If I find something good enough, maybe I will, but for now I don't even think about it."
Universal Pictures will no doubt be throwing money at Besson and his team to begin work on a sequel, given the movie has grossed $168.71 million around the world since its release on July 25 - it is released in the UK this weekend.

In the movie, Scarlett Johansson plays Lucy, an American woman living and studying in Taipei who is forced to become a drug mule for a local mob. After being exposed to the drug she's carrying in her abdomen, the full potential of Lucy's brain is unlocked.
Scarlett Johansson stars in Luc Besson's 'Lucy'
"Lucy is not about to win any prizes from Mensa ... but this isn't quite like any other blockbuster you'll see this year," wrote Tom Huddleston of Little White Lies.
"What begins as a thrilling pastiche of comic-book formula gets bogged down in its own scientific prattle - not that you ever stop adoring Johansson's magnificent heroine," said Ian Nathan of Empire magazine.
"No one has ever accused French action director Luc Besson of thinking too hard, and this frantic exercise in pseudoscience and goofball metaphysics is best enjoyed by following his lead," said J.R Jones of the Chicago Reader.
Lucy is out in cinemas in the UK today.
