Sam Smith has announced he ''can speak again'' after being banned from talking for three weeks in order to recover from voice corrective surgery.
Sam Smith ''can speak again'' following three weeks of silence.
The 23-year-old singer underwent voice corrective surgery in May to repair his damaged vocal cords and has been under doctor's orders not to talk.
But on Wednesday (04.06.15) he was allowed to utter words again much to his delight and relief.
He excitedly posted on Instagram: ''I CAN SPEAK AGAIN!!!!!!!! (sic)''
Sam also uploaded a photo of him looking very happy with Dr. Steven Zeitels, the director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center who performed the successful operation.
In the accompanying post the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker - who has remained in Massachusetts to convalesce and for check-ups - paid tribute to Dr. Zeitels, insisting the surgeon had ''saved'' him.
The message read: ''Completely overwhelmed. Thank you so much Doctor Zeitels for everything. You have truly saved me this past few months. Such an amazing man. You truly truly truly don't know what you got until you lose it. I have fallen in love with music all over again over this past month, and more than ever I feel so blessed to be able to sing and do what I love every day xx (sic)''
After being diagnosed with his haemorrhaged vocal cords, Sam had to cancel the remainder of his Australian tour but he has now announced the shows have been rescheduled.
He wrote on Twitter: ''AUSTRALIA. From all the bad news has come some good news!! I'm coming back to make up for the cancelled shows & I get to play bloody arenas ... So excited to sing for all of you and apologise personally for my bleeding throat xxxx (sic)''
Sam kicks off his run of concerts Down Under on November 28 at the Perth Arena before playing shows at the Entertainment Centre in Adelaide on December 1, the Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney on December 4, Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on December 8 and the final date at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane on December 12.
