The Fifty Shades of Grey classical music album has topped its respective chart, reports The Los Angeles times.

What!? You ask, wondering how a kinky novel-trilogy has gone from warming the palms of middle aged women as they do their daily commute, usually enveloped in a Kindle so as to not reveal their risque taste in literature, to attracting major film stars for a movie adaptation, to now topping music charts. But it is indeed true, "Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album" features Baroque, choral and operatic pieces that are referenced in the novels. The album - released last week on Capitol Records - includes 15 tracks selected by author E.L. James, and it came in at No. 1 on the Nielsen classical-album chart for the week ending Sept. 16.

The naughty books have been subject to myriad parodies, the latest being a cookbook called 50 Shades of Chicken. The book’s site reads as follows: “If Fifty Shades of Grey left you hungry and lusting for more (more, more!), then sink your teeth into this naughty tale of a young, free-range, and very fresh chicken who, like Anastasia Steele, finds herself at the mercy of a dominating man; in this case, a kinky and very ravenous chef. These fifty chicken recipes, each more seductive than the last, will make every dinner a turn-on.” Currently, Ryan Gosling and Kristen Stewart are the favourites to play the novel’s characters in a movie adapation.
