Russell Brand wishes he could experiment more with his sexuality and has branded himself a ''tedious'' heterosexual.
Russell Brand wishes he was bisexual.
The 39-year-old comedian - who was married to Katy Perry for 14 months until December 2011 - has confirmed he is single at the moment but is keen to experiment more with his sexuality and be less of a ''tedious'' heterosexual.
Speaking to Absolute Radio's Geoff Lloyd, Russell - who split from Jemima Khan last month after a year of dating - said: ''I'm single. Well, you've got to go into relationships with the right attitude. All relationships, I'm always positive about them.
''I wish I was bisexual. That's one of the things about me where I've got a very traditional moral code. I'm tedious with my heterosexuality.''
Russell's comments come after he previously revealed he once had a sexual encounter with a man in a pub toilet.
Speaking in a podcast interview, which was unearthed last year, he said: ''I thought, 'I think of myself as heterosexual but perhaps that's 'cause of the environment that I grew up in where homosexuality may have been difficult for me to express.''
He also explained in the podcast that he had picked the guy up in London's Soho by walking around the area and asking if anyone wanted to engage in a sex act with him.
The 'Rock of Ages' actor added: ''I trawled around Soho ... going [to] various gay bars, gay gyms trying to pick people up with a film crew.''
However, earlier this year Russell caused controversy with gay rights campaigners when he branded a collection of Cambridge University students ''Harry Potter poofs'' during a talk at the education establishment.
While trying to get the 800-strong crowd to be quiet, he said: ''Shut up you Harry Potter poofs.''
But his remark did not go down well with president of the university's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) group CUSU LGBT+, who said the star had been ''plain offensive''.
Charlie Bell said: ''It's unacceptable. The word gay, or similar, is used as a jokey insult in schools and workplaces across the country, and has been shown time and again to intimidate and upset gay people.
''Someone in a prominent media position like Brand should be standing up to kick this kind of bullying, which is what it is, out of Britain, not further justify its use.''
