Movie vampire Robert Pattinson is spearheading a new campaign to raise awareness about blood cancer.
The Twilight star used his Choice Vampire acceptance speech at Sunday's (07Aug11) Teen Choice Awards to highlight the new Cancer Bites charity initiative, which launches this coming Halloween (Oct11).
He told fans, "When I heard about the Cancer Bites initiative, I knew very little about how prevalent blood cancer is because there have been so few national campaigns about it."
The actor also urged TV viewers to visit the charity's website to get more information about the disease and how to help.
Blood cancers are the third leading cause of cancer and leukaemia is the most common cancer among children and young adults under 20.
