Stars of the classic movie helped close out the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Tribeca Film Festival ended on Saturday, with a special celebration honouring the 25th anniversary of classic movie, Goodfellas. Robert De Niro, Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino and screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi came together in front of the New York crowd, sharing stories about their time on set as well as revealing a few surprising secrets.
The Goodfellas cast reunited at Tribeca.
Secrets that were dished included Liotta telling the audience that Joe Pesci’s famous ‘Do I Amuse You’ scene was pretty much entirely improvised. “Joe was just telling a story in rehearsal about something that happened to him in Queens,” said the actor. “Some guy, who happened to be a connected guy, said, ‘You think that's funny?’”

Paul Sorvino, who played Paul Vario in the classic flick revealed that he almost quit the movie three days before filming began. "I was really lost, what do you do, I called my agent up and said, 'Get me out!'," Sorvino said. "Then I was going to fix my tie and I saw this guy (in the mirror). And it scared the hell out of me. That's the guy!”
Notably absent from the celebrations was director Martin Scorsese who couldn't attend because he was busy working on his new movie. However the director did send in a special video which was played for the audience.
For Robert DeNiro the evening was special for another reason, as it marked the 14th year of the festival he founded in 2001. "That's about 13 more than we thought when we started,” the legendary actor told the crowd. Speaking on the red carpet his Goodfellas co-star Lorraine Bracco praised the festival and what it meant to the city in the aftermath of 9/11.

"It's for the world to see that we're still standing strong," Bracco said. While Liotta added, "The fact that he helped put it together right after 9/11 and bring Tribeca back as well as New York — that was just honorable in itself. And to sustain it for so long now, it represents a great thing in movies, that's great for movies, and a great thing for the city.”
